Yes, she loves the the chiropractic vet and the vet loves her. She even proposed that Mona could move in and become a clinic cat. Nope, it’s not going to happen. Here she is having her July treatment.
Her next treatment was in August. When the vet got on the bed Mona scooched over to the vet so she could get started. Β On the way home Mona was so relaxed in the car that I left the lid of the box open. She had a couple of peeks as we drove then went to sleep. Here she is in the car when we got home.
I think it might be unsafe to transport her this way. If I really was a crazy cat lady I’d get her a kitty car seat.
Oh Mona, you have to be one of the sweetest kitties in the world!! Obviously yiur Chiropractic Vet thinks so too!
It delights me so to see how much you enjoy these sessions! π π π You are a very pampared cat, and deservedly so! π
Love!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Hi Kerren,
Mona continues being beautiful π I was wondering — how did you know she needed chiropractic care?
We asked our surgeon if it would be helpful to get physical therapy for Maceo after the surgery, and he said “No, you’ll be surprised at how well cats adapt. They don’t really need anything.”
Now, less than 72 hours post-op, he is basically able to do every thing he used to do — jump onto his cat tree, walk and jog through the apartment, use and dig in the litter, etc.
Wondering how we know that he might need extra care, and how it would help?
Thank you!
Susan
Hi Susan, I’ll let Mona know you think she is beautiful. That will please her and she’ll demand another brushing.
Mona has short legs and long body – not an athletic cat build. A month after her amputation I noticed her head did not look even with her hips when she hopped. I took her in for a vet chiropractor who did a treatment and showed me some massages and range of motion games with her remaining legs. Three years later I noticed her movement is not a fluid (more stopping and resting). The current vet said that the left side of her neck is tight (leg gone on that side) along with the tightness in the sacrum. Mona was licking the air when her sacrum area was touched. Mona is over 10 years so there can be some arthritis now.
I think there are postings for cat massages on a tripawd forum. After Maceo heals and the stitches are out, he might enjoy the massages. Other than that you can keep an eye on how he moves to determine if he needs any additional care.
He’s doing so well with his recovery! Does he ever sleep?
Kerren
Hi Kerren,
Thanks! So it sounds like it was something that you noticed after some time. How nice that you were paying attention to her alignment π Yet, it completely makes sense that they would get tension because of compensating for the missing limb.
Maceo is quite athletic by nature. As a kitten he used to jump 6 feet in the air easily and is a great runner. He has some athritis, unfortunately in the remaining elbow, so we got stairs for him awhile back — and now those stairs are proving to be useful once again. We were doing Adequan injections too, but we stopped ever since discovering the tumor, since apparently he’s sensitive to injections and we don’t want to risk ANYTHING.
He’s doing SO well with his recovery. He does nap during the day, in between his multiple meals and snacks, as well as his demanding schedule of surveilling his properties (backyard, neighbors’ yards, etc).
He is happy now because we just removed the Fentanyl patch and he is free of the cone. Almost 100%! The amputation seems not to catch much of his attention.
Thanks for sharing, and please keep sharing photos of Mona! She is just so good looking, it’s nice to see all the pictures.
Susan
Mona you are so chill! You are the kind of cat I hope to bring into our pack some day. I love that you are able to see how going out on a trip and getting treatments like this is good for you. The next time I get stressed I’m going to think of you and mellow out. Nice going girl!
xoxo
Mona, glad you like your chiropractic adjustments. Bosch & Jasmine really like theirs too. π
